DaimlerChrysler Corp. announced a $435 million plan to expand its north assembly plant in Fenton. The automaker said it will spend $317 million on a new body shop and $118 million on a new spray booth in the paint shop. DaimlerChrysler will add 311,000 square feet to the existing body shop. The plant's 3,000 employees have manufactured the Dodge Ram Quad Cab pickup truck since 1997. The 33-year-old plant produced Chrysler minivans until a $350 million conversion for pickup trucks was completed in 1995.
