DaimlerChrysler chooses Amcast

Amcast Industrial Corp. said this morning it has landed a deal to produce aluminum road wheels for DaimlerChrysler Corp.
The Dayton-based manufacturer said it will begin shipment during the first quarter of 2003, for use on a Chrysler mid-size sedan.
The contract, value of which was not revealed, also marks Amcast's first North American order for aluminum road wheels.
"The award of this project is a milestone for Amcast Automotive and is the culmination of a dedicated strategy to further diversify our North American customer base," said Byron Pond, Amcast president and chief executive officer.
Amcast, http://www.amcast.com, was trading up 9 cents this morning, at $6.21 per share, on the New York Stock Exchange.
