Albemarle finishes acquisition

Albemarle Corp. said this morning it has completed its acquisition of ChemFirst Inc.'s custom and fine chemicals division.

The division includes the ChemFirst's pilot plant in Dayton and its Tyrone, Pa., facility.

The sale is for $74 million, plus an adjustment of about $9 million for working capital at the time of closing, and contingent payments not to exceed $10 million.

Louisiana-based Albemarle, http://www.albemarle.com, is a supplier of chemicals and chemical intermediates with 13 facilities worldwide.
