Cincinnati Metro's CEO Michael Setzer has resigned, and Chief Operating Officer Marilyn Shazor will take his place, the transit system announced Tuesday.
Setzer, who was appointed CEO and general manager in 2004, has accepted a job as a regional vice president with Chicago-based Veolia Transportation, according to a news release. He will continue with Metro in a contract management capacity.
Setzer's 30-year career in transportation management also included stints heading transit systems in Minneapolis/St. Paul and St. Louis.
Shazor, the first female and first African American to hold the top position at the bus system, will take over as CEO March 31. She joined Metro in 2006 as COO, after holding positions in human resources and engineering management with companies that included Mead Corp. and James River Corp.
A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, with a degree in aerospace engineering, Shazor served as an officer in the U.S. Army. After leaving the service, she earned an MBA from the University of Michigan. She and her two children live in West Chester.
Metro, which is operated by the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, provides bus service in Hamilton County, and portions of Butler, Clermont and Warren counties.
